Is Metformin the new common PCO treatment?

I am going to see my old endo. doc. next week, I want to get on Metformin for my PCO, will I have a struggle or is it commonplace to ask for this. In the past the only drug I've been told I can take is BCP. I would like to try to get off those. Please advise.

thanks Cay
