Re: going crazyFrom: Sally (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 27 Feb 2002 01:10:36 -0600 (CST)
Hi Rachel, I also am 31 and diagnoses with PCOS about 7 month ago and have been on met. 2000 mg since that time. Everything has improved for me (weight, energy, lipids, etc...., except that I am still not getting regular / proper periods - and this is despite bcp Diane (which should make things regular). Only had one 'normal' period since I started met....and that was 3 months ago now..... the rest were like 1/2 - 1 day and next to nothing. Am not TCC at the moment (not married or even partnered), so not monitoring this too closely. Could your dr. consider one of the other insulin sensitisers. I heard that they work in slightly different ways and heard of someone using both met and another one with some success after just hte use of met did not work. How are you going with diet and exercise? Are you overwieght? If so losing a little weight may also help (from what I have read, a loss as small as 5% can also stimulate more normal cycles). Maybe that would contribute to making things better. By the way, my endo., who is very knowledgeable and whom I like and trust, says that it can take up to six months or longer to get real results..... I have not discussed my lack of period results wth her yet, but will do so at the next appointment middle of next month......maybe will get a proper period this month. Be patient and best of luck. You are no where near the end of the track yet.
