Medications that help lower androgen levels??????From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 24 Feb 2002 12:44:49 -0600 (CST)
Hello Everyone, I was wondering about medications that lower androgen levels. I heard that Spironolactone, finasteride and flutamide lower androgen levels. My doctor has recently put me on Glucophage 500mg XR. I have another appointment next week and will ask my doctor to increase my dosage. My question is Am I able to take Spironolactone, finasteride and flutamide while I am on Glucophage for the hair reduction? I did ask my doctor about Spironolactone and he told me that Glucophage would be better than Spirolactone, although, he was pretty hesitant about putting me on Glucophage because he said that it was not FDA approved for PCOS yet. The hair growth really bothers me and lowers my self esteem and I get moody and depressed very often. I am 25 years old and am not planning on getting pregnant for at least another 3-4 years. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with taking Spironolactone, finasteride and flutamide and what the results were. I also heard that finasteride or flutamide, am not sure which one but one of them is discontinued. Any information would help...thank you very much. Minni Sweetstuff106719@aol.com
