I too had terrific muscle cramps while taking met; I found it was most responsive to potassium. Apparently, met is a potassium-store-depleting medication. There are lots of good sources of potassium other than bananas--raisins, orange juice, broccoli, potatoes, yogurt, etc. Try adding more potassium to your diet and see if that helps. It did help me.
