metformin & leg pain/crampsFrom: Audrey (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 21 Feb 2002 13:08:09 -0600 (CST)
I've been taking metformin for a few months now and I can live with the nausea and diarrhea but I'm wondering if the problems I'm having with my legs is a side effect. I started having severe muscle cramps at night time. I would wake up screaming with a charlie horse. Now I'm finding that my ankle gets sore and then the pain starts travelling up my leg to the back of my knee. I've been taking calcium supplemnets for a few weeks hoping that it would help but I'm getting worried. I don't want to stop taking the metformin. It's taken me many years to finally get diagnosed as PCO and treated I don't want to stop now. Has anyone had this problem or know of it happening and if so what can I do?
