Glucophage XR==GI side effects....help!!

Hi there-- I'm 25 and just started on Glucophage XR. I have been taking 500 mg. for about a week, and I am having pretty awful GI upset....diarrhea etc. Also, i saw someone else with this problem, the capsules themselves sometimes come out, but like nine to twelve hours later!!! Someone replied that the medication itself is absorbed, but how can that be? I actually checked one of the undigested capsules and there was a white substance inside. Does anyone think regular Glucophage is easier to digest, etc. than the Glucophage XR? I have been taking it with my dinner....so I don' tknow what to do about the stomach upset and how long to stick it out. I want to get up to 1500 mg.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. I really do want to stay on it..i was on Avandia but developed some serious edema.
