Re: metformin starting today!From: tera (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 16 Feb 2002 21:14:14 -0600 (CST)
Hi! We are not trying to become pregnant right now. We are taking a break from it all and have been for some time to consider all of our options and then to make a "final" decision about our infertility. We tried to become pregnant for 3-4 years straight. We tried Clomid, Metformin, Clomid with Metformin, ovarian drilling, ovarian drilling with Clomid and we had one interuterine insemination using Fertinex (an injectable ovulatory medication). I was never able to ovulate with Clomid even at high doses and even after ovarian drilling (which I do not recommend - you can read my previous posts on this). I did create mature eggs when I took high doses of Fertinex. We did not become pregnant during our insemination and my reproductive endo thought it was because of all of my scar tissue from my drilling. We are now discussing IVF and adoption. Take heart! Studies show that many women with PCOS are able to ovulate using a Metformin and Clomid combo. Try just the Met first and then try the combo. You might have to tinker with your Clomid doses. If that does not work there is always injectables. Like I said, I had to use a high dose but I DID create mature eggs! It is possible! Sometimes we just need a little nudge to get things going! I hope it works out for you, dear and that you're blessed with the desire of your heart -- a child! I'll say a prayer for you! God bless! Tera
