Re: Glucophage XR - Is it worth it?From: anonymous@obgyn.net ("anonymous@obgyn.net")Tue, 12 Feb 2002 13:07:59 -0500
Kathy, I agree with Panacea. Try taking a good multivitamin. I've had to try several different brands before I found one that seemed to help more than the others. Avon used to have a "Women I" formula that you took twice a day. Now, they've got a reformulated vitamin that you take once a day. One of my friends swears by the new formula, but I believe I felt better taking the old formula. I'm taking another brand (I can't remember what it's called) that seems to be working for me..although this could change in the future, requiring another moving to another brand. I also noticed a tiredness on the Glucophage XR, so I tried to take mine at night. Being sure to take it with a meal seems to help avoid the tiredness unless it's a heavier meal. If I don't eat in a somewhat regular timing pattern, I have noticed I seem to run out of energy faster too, so that might be something you need to consider. I know diabetics are told to eat smaller meal/snacks more frequently than just three larger meals, so there might be something to that for us, since we're taking medicine that affects our blood sugar. Another thing to think about...depression seems to be a part of PCOS for most of us, and with depression, tiredness seems to be a problem. You may need to address this with antidepressants, or perhaps you just need to find something to pamper yourself now and then so you have something to look forward to. Another tip is to set small goals for yourself that will give you pleasure or a feeling of accomplishment. Since I've been in school and working full time the past 18 months, while doing the single mom thing too, I've reached the burn-out point and have made the tough decision to put school on hold for a few sessions and try to get some long neglected things accomplished around the house. I hate housework, but I'm kinda looking forward to having the time to organize that hall closet and other places. As I go thru the day, I find myself running over what things I hope to get done before I go in for carpal tunnel surgery for my hands next month, and it makes me feel a bit better about life itself. Best wishes, whatever you decide. By the way, tell your husband I asked him to take you out for a nice, candlelit dinner soon....hold hands....take a walk together....just do some things that are quiet compared to our busy, stressful, crazy world. Hugs Shelley
>Actos just because I feel so good when I am on it. My husband is urging Are you taking any vitamins? try taking a good multivitamin and perhaps some selenium, magnesium. Selenium and B vitamins are supposed to be good for energy levels and mood.
