Glucophage XR - Is it worth it?From: Kathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 12 Feb 2002 09:18:29 -0600 (CST)
I have been taking Actos for a year, and I was feeling great. I have been having regular periods, no side effects, except for gaining 20 lbs. The facial hair is not slowing at all - I tried taking Spiro. too, for that, but it wasn't helping, and it was making me have a period every 2 weeks! So I dropped it. Now my doctor wants me to try Glucophage XR - he assures me that it is better now. No side effects. Well, I took one a day for 2 weeks, now I am taking 2 a day. I have not had any diarrhea or nausea like I had before, but I am so tired I can barely function! And that is not good for me - I am too busy to be sleepy! I have to admit that the ONLY reason I tried it again is that so many women report losing weight by taking Glucophage. And I am so desperate that I decided to try it. Is it worth it? I never lost weight on Glucophage before, even though I was so sick and could barely eat anything. I am thinking of going back on Actos just because I feel so good when I am on it. My husband is urging me to forget Glucophage XR - he does not like me being so tired and depressed. Any advice? Thanks, Kathy
