Re: Anyone have hypothyroidism?

Hi,

I have hypothryoid. It was diagnosed not from blood tests which were high normal but because i have an enlarged thryorid. The Dr. said this means that though my thyroid is working it is under stress and she prescribed replacement thyroid hormone (levothryoxine sodium). I am about 50% of total replacement (according to the drug info sheet - drug dose/body weight) and still being adjusted to higher dose. Dr. aims to have a TSH level of about 1. However many drs may consider anything up to 5.5 is 'normal'- I beleive this is the old school. Have you seen an endocrinologist? If not, you should see one - prefereably one that is up-to-date. Surely they would say you are hypothyroid based on the enlarged thyroid and the symptoms and you would be treated. I was also cold all the time, depression, extreme fatigue. All much better now with treatment.

Please follow this up agressively and insist on treatment. Hypothryoid has serious health consequences - not to mention qualtiy of life.

Best wishes
