For Dr. SamFrom: Barbra (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 24 Jan 2002 08:16:48 -0600 (CST)
Hello Dr.Sam, I am in desperate need for an answer and hope that you can provide me with some of you knowledge. I have lupus-PCOS (type) syndome...a fine needle aspiration was done to rule out ovarian Cancer,as they took some from the ovaries and from the fluid. They said I was clear. I have acsites..no-one seems to be able to give me an explanation of that. I did have onset of CHF,with an Ejection Fraction in the forties and now in the seventies, which I was told is a very healthy heart.I had the stress and rest muga tests performed,as well as echo cardiograms and the like. I don't present with organomally,(sorry,my typing is bad during the morning). Liver tests have all come back normal. I am still retaining water with pitting edema in my ankles. I am IR. Seems that I am not getting anywhere. My DHEA"S are really sky high and I suffer from heart palps ,then bradycardia upon some slight exertion at times. All these things just don't add up to me. I had Diabetes Insipidus which cleared up. I feel as if I am banging my head against a brick wall. Do you think it would be possible for you to contact me personally,if you don't mind. I am really on the brinks of giving up hope,as I get these undifferentiated diagnosis's all the time. I am forty, and prior to 1997,I considered myself to be healthy, happy and active. My problems started then, with massive weight loss and weakness in my legs. Legs turn red, purple, blue when standing or sitting..but when raised, are of normal color. I was told that this large cyst that I have, may be pressing on something, therefore causing alot of problems with my extremeties. I assume that I have PCO...I can only guess,as the ultrasound showed a large mass, which I was told was a cyst. Another smaller one on the left side.I don't have pelvic pains, only increased girth. I am hoping that you can give me a little insight. PCOS..I understand can lead to alot of the other issues that I have had in the past. I am wondering how this diabetes Insipidus cleared up,while my lupus did not. I was also told that I may have this adrenaline problem....I had two tests done to rule out that rare adrenaline tumour. All tests came back normal. I clearly have endocrine problemss, and hope that you would take the time to offer some advice,or at least provide me with the proper amunition that I need to take in to my doctor's visit this week. Currently, they don't have me on any medications for anything, till they know exactly what is going on,so in the hope of finding some relief-I have taken it upon myself to using herbs and also my one doctor has encouraged the use of some supplements. Any advice would be so much appreciated. I am new to this PCOS,but my MD informed me that alot of my past, and present conditions may have been caused by this, although, they are not well informed of PCOS. Thanking you in advance.
-- Sincerely, Barbra Camara
