Re: Clomid and light periodsFrom: Dona (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 23 Jan 2002 17:46:04 -0600 (CST)
HI Ana, What my doctor usually does is check my progesterone levels at CD 21 to see if #1 I have ovulated or not and #2 to see if I have enough progesterone in my system to have a "real period" My tests usually come back low if I have not ovulated and then we induce with provera even if I am already lightly spotting...usually 2 weeks after taking the provera I have a normal bleed usually about 4-5 days heavy at first then tapering off. Then I start clomid. My RE seems to think that the clomid will work better if a period is induced after a non ovulatory cycle.I also take Glucophage because it has been shown to increase the likelyhood of the clomid working.I would call your doctor though and see what his thoughts on this are and if he wants to induce or not or if he feels spotting is good enough to take the clomid. Hope this helped. Dona
