Re: Question regarding initial pre-diagnosis testing and Progestrin estrogen 'challenge'...From: Tangelo (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 23 Jan 2002 10:47:49 -0600 (CST)
Hi William. I can't help you too much here, but I can tell you that my doctor told me the same thing about the ultra-sound. She said that it would be painful and that blood tests would determine if I had PCOS. That is how I was diagnosed. I had regular blood work done to determine hormone levels and the such. I honestly don't know what the "right" way is to be tested for PCOS. I have an appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist (for the first time) this week. He may be able to give me some more insight on PCOS and how to live with it. I would suggest taking your daughter to a specialist, if she hasn't already been. My doctor was trying to put me on Prozac for my horrible mood swings instead of getting to the root of the problem (hormones). :) Sorry I can't be of more help.
