Dear KEvin,
The #:RE is wrong on two accounts.
1. Spironolactone is PROHIBITED while TTC, bcause it can cause genital malformations in a male fetus
2. There is some debate about continuing metformin during pgy because there is a perceived risk of neural tube defects if you continue, but there is an increased risk of miscarriage if you discontinue. As the risk of NTD can be diminished by extra folic acid (800 mg/day) to prudent advice is TO CONTINUE METFORMIN.
