I went through many of the same things too. I was told that everything
was due to me being obese. Eating too much junk food, being lazy, and
so on. Which was kind of funny because I didn't eat very much at all!
When I hadn't had a period by 21 I was told that was NORMAL because I
was young. I was practically bald and no one took it seriously. I
walked into one doctor's office and had her look up and blurt out, "My
God, you're huge!" I had a gyn I went to for a pap smear try to schedule
me for stomach stapling. It's just so ridiculous, all of the ignorance
that's out there in the medical field about this and how very much women
with PCOS are made to suffer because of it. That's personally why I got
involved with the PCOSA - I really feel that I couldn't do anything else
but spend my life trying to stop that happening to other women. Thank
God we've made some progress recently but there's still a long way to
go!
