An HSG is a procedure where they insert dye thorugh your uterus and fallopian tubes, while watching, to make sure that there are no blockages in your tubes that could be preventing eggs from reaching the uterus. I hear that it is not really painful, but just slightly uncomfortable (sounds like a pap to me on that description, although I've never had it done!)

It's definitely something you want to do ASAP when you're treating fertility, instead of later. This is because on the off chance you DO have a block, you'd feel pretty dumb if you found out after spending months of time and lots of money inducing ovulation that wouldn't have gone anywhere anyway. This way you're sure everything is in proper working order so you can start.

50 *is* a fairly low dose but it's usually where people start.
