I am not so sure that the shot is helping her ... others here will chime in with advice on that score.

The main thing is, WHAT KIND OF DIET IS YOUR DAUGHTER ON? Whether she is a perfect weight or overweight or underweight, it doesn't matter. She NEEDS to eat like a diabetic with a low carb, high protein diet if she responded well to glucophage (an insulin sensitizer). Are you familiar with the term insulin resistance?

No sugar, no regular chocolate, no caffeine (especially no caffeine - that means no soda w/caffeine either). I know this is hard for a teenager but it really is worth it. No processed grains, no white bread, no pasta, no white rice. NO potatoes. Potatoes are pure sugar! so is fruit juice.

Also, some nutritional supplements like a multivitamin or two would probably help.

I recommend the Atkins Diet (http://www.atkinsdiet.com/) at least for the supplements and ideas on nutrition (I don't follow it ... I just stick to their nutrition tips and take their supplements... it has helped me a great deal).

Good luck
