The reason I knew it was lactic acidosis, other than being a clincial research assistant, but because in the middle of the night, my muscles were contracting uncontrollably. It was with an immense pain, stronger than even the charlie horses people normally get on their calves, only it was through my entire body. I couldn't even move with the pain I was having. In the morning when I got up, or at least tried, my muscles were so sore as if I had ran a marathon and power lifted 500 pounds. I've never had or felt anything like it.
