Colloidal Silver and gold, and the FDAFrom: Renee (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 12 Jan 2002 07:14:47 -0800
Here is a letter from the FDA a year ago relating to the lack of evidence supporting the safety and efficacy of colloidal silver and gold. http://www.fda.gov/cder/warn/cyber/dec2000/Cyber065.pdf There are a couple more links within the letter, referring to regulations and what the FDA does and does not regulate. There is often a misconception that if it's on the shelves, it must be safe and effective, or the government wouldn't let it be there. Truth be told, unless there is a health claim on the label, there is no regulation. The only thing that keeps that type of product off the shelf is lack of sales ($$), or legal action against them ($$). Renee -- Renee Cordrey, MSPT, MPH, CWS---
