Reducing OHSS Risk with PCOS and IVFFrom: k. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 18 Dec 2001 19:19:06 -0600 (CST)
I am 29 with PCOS according to ultrasound and LH-RH test. I am otherwise completly healthy and normal weight. Unfortunatly my DH has a very low sperm count of less than 2 million. My Dr. suggests that ICSI is our only option at this point. Prior to the low results from the SA (unfortunately) I had 3 successful ovulation rounds of 150mg clomid followed by an HCG injection without incident. Question is this: Is there any data on the normal risk of developing OHSS during an IVF cycle with IVF? Would they be less of a risk of OHSS if I were to take glucophage prior to starting the treatment for an IVF cycle? I realize this might add a few months to the treatment cycle, but might it make it safer? My doctor promises careful monitoring of the cycle both by blood levels and transvaginal ultrasound, but I would like to take the safest route. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have.
