Re: Weight Training and PCOS: The Firm Exercise VideosFrom: Sally (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 11 Dec 2001 19:00:50 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I normally get best results when I combine weight training and some sort of aerobic exercise. I love the increased muscle definition, increased endurance, increased strength - and better aerobic performance (mind you I sometimes fall off the exercise band wagon and have to haul myself up again - am in that process at the moment). If I don't exercise then even if I eat very little I can't lose weight. Weight training is definitely good for us and ideally it would be a lifetime habit! Have you heard of 'The Firm" exercise videos. These combine aerobic and weight training. They are low impact and scientifically designed. Probably the best exercise videos I have seen. They are also suitable for bigger people as they are low impact and also explain how to reduce or increase the level of the exercise. They claim you will see a difference after 10 sessions. I beleive that is true (got to get motivated enough to get through 10 sessions). Also exercises are in sets so you can just do part of the video, pick and choose, or do the lot. Average length is 40 - 45 minutes. I have just started doing them and they really are great! Though it does take a while to get co-ordinated. Probably you could rent from the video store to try before you buy! Best wishes
-- Sally
