Hi Jessica-

I can definitely say that weight training will help. I started working out in March of 1999, which was several months before I was diagnosed. Although I didn't lose much weight at the time, I did build up muscle.

In addition to weight training, I do about two miles on the treadmill three times a week. My weight training is pretty routine and takes another fifteen minutes.

No matter what your fitness level, there is a workout that will help. As you get stronger, you will increase the weights and see even better results. Take it from me; I was NEVER an athlete and got picked on by my gym teachers in school!

Good luck! I know you will feel stronger and healthier if you add weight training to your workout.

Genny
