Re: Spiro and hair to Tera

I know how you feel!! I'm waiting for blood test results to come back so that I can start on Spiro myself. I used to have a THICK head of hair, but no longer. I can even recall a few years ago, my cosmotologist saying "you'll never go bald!". I get so upset when I sweep my kitchen and bathroom because half of my hair is on the floor. Every time I wash my hair my heart plummets with each handful of that comes out. When I go out in public I think that everyone is staring at my "bald spot" and become very self-conscious. As for the rest of my body.... let's just say that if I could transplant the hair from there onto my head I could do an "herbal" shampoo commercial in a heartbeat!! LOL! There is hope though. While I realise that medication has a different effect on each of us, my friend is on Spiro and has new hair sprouting all over her head. (especially at the hair line) 200 mg does sound like a lot because my friend's dermotologist lowered her dosage from 100 to 50 mg. Sorry for intruding on your converation, but I just wanted to vent a little. Take care--- Christie

Hi Jen!

Thanks for your reply. This whole hair thing is a real bummer, huh? You are on 200 mg of Spiro. Interesting. My obgyn said that even 100 mg has seemed high to her. I'm only on 50 mg for now. She said if it didn't help in about two weeks she'd raise it. Hope so. I had tons of lovely hair and now my hair gets thinner by the minute. I swear I can even FEEL it falling out. Probably because I'm a little obsessed with it! My hair line has recessed about 1/8-1/4 or an inch in a month! Just a few scraggly hairs left in the "bald" areas. I know it takes time and I don't expect a quick fix but it sure would be nice!! I'd at least like to keep the hair that's left! Anyway, take care of your self. Remember - no one can add a day to their lives by worrying!!! Easier said then done I know - I should talk! God bless! Tera
