Dear Sonnet, Thank-you for bringing one thing to my attention that I neglected to mention.

It is true that depression needs to be addressed.

What I am actually trying to say,is that some women go on these anti-depressants,,then starte feeling so well, that they neglect the other meds for their insulin resistance and others...stop their diets and then this becomes a mental health issue.

I do not disagree with anti-depressants to the extent that I would say"just don't take any"..as I know that depression is a killer to experience.

But one thing that needs to be adressed, are the testosterone levels, androgen levels and DHEA"S.........these can be controlled....when they are...our raging hormones sort of fall back into place. Even on the anti-depressant that seems to be the so called "magic Bullet" for some...may indeed turn out to be something that we need not ingest in our bodies.

For goodness sakes,,,,,why tamper around with more chemicals when there are so many other ways of combatting depression.I feel that resorting to meds like that are an easy way out...sorry!ANY CHRONIC DISEASE CAUSES DEPRESSION...FROM HEART DISEASE TO CANCER TO LOSING A LEG TO MS....I CAN GO ON....DOES THAT MEAN THAT WE ARE TO RESORT TO THESE PILLS?I THINK NOT!TRY EXERCISING,DANCING,HAVING A PET....SOMETHING THAT BRINGS YOU SOME COMFORT.I AM TRYING HARD EVERY SINGLE DAY TO COMBAT THE OVERWHELMING DEPRESSION THAT I FEEL AT TIME...AND GUESS WHAT?-IT WORKS....MUCH BETTER THAN ANY PILL.I AM NOT CURED...BUT I FEEL SOME COMFORT AND HOPE AND MOST OF ALL....IN CONTROL OF MY BODY!ANY PILL THAT WORKS ON THE CNS SYSTEM DOES NOT ALLOW YOU CONTROL OVER YOUR BODY..LET ALONE YOUR MIND....ARE WE TO GO THRU LIFE IN A DAZE OF OBLIVION?WELL,NOT ME AND OTHERS. Yes,we do need the meds for controlling issues like weight ,hair growth, etc,,(I suppose that I am lucky that I don't have those issues),but I have several others that were directly related to the SSRI"S.that I assumed were making me better.

I respect your decisions on taking anti-depressants,as depression and anxiety affect our quality of life,,but..the long term effects of these meds will also effect the quality of life.

I also want to add that I lost a friend from Prozak...it made him go off the deep end....he was feeling great...then blew his brains out.

Sorry, but I just see and hear too many things about these drugs and I have been there. Oh,yes indeed, they made me feel good for a while...took them six to eight weeks to fianlly kick in,,,but then there are water retention problems....more issues that I am certain that any educated woman out there considering putting more meds in her mouth, would certainly take a little time to research what she is ingesting into her body.

Hoping that I didn't come on too strong....I suppose it is my DHEA's that are making me ramble endlessly...lol!

Sincerely,
Barbra Camara
