Switching to Glucophage XR and weight gain

Hi! I generally post to the other site. But I have a med question. I was diagnosed with PCOS at the same time I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, I had gestational diabetes 2 years ago. I am now taking Glucophage 500mg 2x a day. On the diabetes board I asked about XR, because it would be easier just to take it once a day. Someone responded that they gained like 20 pounds almost immediately and can't get it off. They also said the other people that her endo treated had the same problem and most all of them went back to using the regular Glucophage. No one else responded except her. Any thoughts? Comments? Experiences? I'd love to hear from others... Also, I'm thinking of taking the 500 3x per day since from what I read 1500mg is the optimal dose. What do you think? I haven't really seen any changes with it 2x per day. Except I was able to lose about 15 pounds. I've since hit a plateau. Bummer! Thanks! You can email me privately. dpreston@acadia.net
