Re: Conceived twice...Why can't I get pregnant again? Will I ever? (long)From: Lori (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 6 Dec 2001 11:49:23 -0800 (PST)
Hi Meli- Thanks for sharing with us. You sound very frustrated and angry at life - and I completely understand that but try to pull yourself back a little bit. Stress (even stress induced by not being able to conceive quickly)can actually worsen the situation. You really need to focus on enjoying the two children that you have and seeing the joy that they bring you = while at the same time researching your heart out to find what you can try differently. You need some balance. I know what you mean about getting upset when seeing other people that are pregnant or with newborns. I have had 2 miscarriages this year and my due date should be next week - I have been struggling with my emotions a lot this month - the holidays don't make it any easier. Regarding your experiences.... Have you seen a reproductive endocrinologist? There is more to diagnosing PCOS than cysts, weight and irregular cycles. You are right though - especially if you also have extra hair growth - that you carry many of this signs of PCOS. There are some hormone tests that the RE would run to confirm the diagnosis. I myself don't have the cysts or hair growth but I do have the insulin resistance, the hormone levels, and the weight gains. Have you had your thyroid tested? Low thyroid can also cause irregular periods, weight gain, etc. Unfortunately I don't know all the areas to look into for not conceiving - since I have no problem conceiving - I just can't keep them once I get pregnant. I have been seeing a specialist in LA that I found through RIA labs (great website for info.) and they were successful in finding out several reasons why I have been miscarrying so I will now go on blood thinners and immunization therapy. You may find more answers on TTC and infertility boards. INCIID has some really good ones. I participate on their miscarriage support area. http://www.inciid.org Wishing you the best- Lori Send your FREE holiday greetings online! http://greetings.yahoo.com
