Re: Paxil..

I would just like to say that I suffer from panic attacks and mood swings as well. My doctor put me on Paxil, and I feel a world of difference. I can sleep at night, I don't fly off the handle at every little thing, and most of all I haven't had a panic attack since I started taking it. I almost lost my husband because of my picking, nagging and fighting over petty things. The only side effect I had was a medicinal taste in my mouth when I first began taking Paxil. Keep in mind that my doctor also told me to go to stress management classes and a pshycologist to treat the underlying problems as well. We all suffer from PCOS, many of us have the same problems, many of us don't. What a specific medication does to one person, may not be the same effect on another. Only you and your doctor can find the best medication for your needs. It's called trial and error, and it stinks but it truly is the only way. Christie

Dear Anonymous,

I am sorry to be the bringer of bad news....but you should look up all the side effects of Paxil.Prozak,Zoloft,Serozone and some other SSRI's. These are dangerous anti-depressents. Don't let the doctors medicate your depression...they are putting a bandaid on it and the only thing that will happen,is that you will,in all probability, gain weight..run into other health issues...as I did myself. My first diagnosis was anxiety and depression with a misplaced mood and aggressive behaviour and some outbursts of rage at time...only because,I WAS EXPERIENCING MY WHACKED OUT HORMONES....PCOS CAUSES DEPRESSION,ANXIETY,PANIC ATTACKS,AGORAPHOBIA AND OTHERS.

You need to start from within....I know these doctors may say that you have a serotonin problem etc.,..that is a bunch of bullcorn.Don't buy it,even in the event that you do feel better for a while,as I did. Us women have whacked out hormonal problems...that needs to be addressed...when that is fully understood and treated..then the depression should also subside.

Paxil will make you sweat bullets...there is not one person that I ever spoke to during my research on the meds, that has not had horrible experiences. GO on the web and look up "paxil nightmare"..you will find hundreds of stories.

My cousin, and also a friend,as well as myself, experienced shock like symptoms from the paxil..these meds also cause taccycardia.....are hard on the liver and should never be taken with grapefruit juice....that juice has an effect of increasing the effects and side effects of the meds.

I am in no way trying to scare any of you...telling you that these drugs should not be taken...but giving you a warning that they have permanently damaged some of my organs,,,one being my heart. PCOS causes heart palps to begin with and we are depressed..well,some of us,as we are overweight etc. Grab some meditation books...if exercising is too difficult,,then try yoga.....use aromatherapy for depression....try homeopathic meds and most of all, talk to your doctor(that is if he/she is open minded and respects your knowledge),about Dong Quai. This has been of tremendous help for me and others suffering with this chronic illness.

These meds will either sedate you,,,,but most of all, give you horrible insomnia..as if we haven;t already got a problem with that. Then the doc will come and combat that with a sleeping pill...then another drug.....

I know that these pharmeceutical companies say these drugs are the newest anti-depressants and pose less risks than the older ones..but,you are playing with fire. I have been there.....it has been five years of hell, now to discover that my original symptoms were that of PCOS.....given the wrong diagnosis and then prescribed a myriad of drugs that had serious detramental effects on my body.

Please,as a women that is still suffering in silence..I warn you..do not resort to the anti-depressants.Not only will you battle the PCOS...but then ongoing addictions to these meds. They are as bad and addictive as crack or cocaine. Ladies.please do some homework before starting any regimen of anti-depressants..if I would have...I would never suffered as badly as I did and still am. I am open to comments and suggestions,,,,,I am presently doing some research on homeopathic meds, and if I can help any out there,I will try. Do not hesitate to email me. In all Sincerety, Be well,ladies..it is YOUR BODY!YOU HAVE THE POWER OF CONTROL OVER THIS DEPRESSION...NOT THE MEDS! >>

I HAD DIAVBETES INSIPIDUS...IT MADE ME WORSE.....OFF THE MEDS...MY DIABETES CLEARED UP..AS SONNET HAD WRITTEN,,CERTAIN MEDS CAUSE THE BODY TO NOT ABSORB CERTAIN VITAMINS AND MINERALS....ONCE THE MEDS ARE STOPPED,,THE DIABETES CAN CLEAR UP...AFTER I RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM SONNET TO LOOK IT UP ON THE WEB,THEN DISCUSSED WITH MY DOCTOR...PROVED TO BE TRUE. I WOULD NOT TAKE IT.
