glucophage and getting pregnant

Hi.I had posted a few weeks ago about having gotten pregnant while taking glucophage xr 1000mg and also levoxoyll for my thryroid.My endo told me to stop the glucophage as soon as I found out that I was pregnant and within a few weeks I had to have an emergency D&C becuse the prgnancy had stopped progressing.In any case,I went to my endo this week and now he says that if I do get prgnant again he,ll keep me on the glucophage.When I asked him about the possibility of neural defects.He said that this is so controversial that its difficult to say whether a pregnant women should stop her medication and risk miscarrige or keep taking it and risk some problems with the baby.Nothing is proven yet.I feel more confused now.Maybe I,ll take extra folic acid and try again to get pregnant.How does one ensure a healthy baby.
