Here's a bit of encouragement for all of you on glucophage and diets... My doctor put me on glucophage (Metformin) as soon as I was diagnosed. I took it for 4 months and never got adjusted to any dosage. I was terribly sick the whole time. But I got pregnant! My doctor had told me that my case appeared severe and not to hold out too much hope, but it happened so quickly. I had not yet used the clomid that was prescribed. Since my (healthy) baby was born, I have been on a low-carb diet. I do still have very irregular periods, but my insulin resistance is gradually improving. I've been able to bring my hormone levels moderately close to normal, although it hasn't been easy. I'm hoping to eventually be able to keep my PCOS managed solely with a healthy lifestyle. (A couple years ago I would have thought low-carb was a fate worse than death!) Good luck and best wishes whatever road you choose!
