Re: metaformin/pcos/pcoFrom: jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 13 Nov 2001 19:29:42 -0600 (CST)
You can have PCO (polycystic ovaries) without having PCOS. PCO is just one sign of the syndrome and not all of us have it, though most probably do. I certainly do. it seems very unlikely that one would have regular ovulatory periods, no excess hair, and no weight problems and still have PCOS, though... your doc might be a little misinformed. Still, if you have been trying to get preg for three years and have not, something must not be right somewhere. has your husband been checked out for problems (low sperm count, low motility, etc)? have you tried charting to figure out ovulation times? sometimes the kits aren't accurate, especially if PCOS really is present. the kits work by looking for an LH surge, and we PCOSers have high LH all the time. It could be that you do have PCOS and only think you are ovulating because the kits are falsely telling you so. - jodi
