Re: glucophageFrom: jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 13 Nov 2001 11:47:08 -0600 (CST)
It is OK to take aldactone while on glucophage. however... - many women experience irregular or constant bleeding while on aldactone. if this is a problem, BCPs can correct it. the problem with both the aldactone bleeding and the BCPs is that then you have no why of knowing from a period standpoint if the glucophage is working. - you should NOT be trying to get pregnant while on aldactone, so if your wife is going to take aldactone and not take BCPs, you MUST use a barrier method of birth control. aldactone can cause feminization of male fetuses, and given that female fetuses likely need a certain level of androgen to develop, aldactone probably is not good for them either. some women have found glucophage to do a decent job of combatting hair growth... your wife might want to give the gluc a try by itself for a while. - jodi
