Glucophage Worked - Baby Is Here!From: Ruth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 7 Nov 2001 04:33:06 -0600 (CST)
Hello - I posted several months ago that I was finally pregnant (and stayed pregnant) using the Glucophage along with the FSH shots and IUI. On Oct. 24, I had an 8lb 6oz baby girl that is healthy. I wanted you all to know that all the side effects of the Glucophage and infertility medications were worth it - I have a beautiful baby girl now. We have been trying for over five years intensively and I kept getting pregnant and then miscarrying around 7 weeks. This time I stayed on the Glucophage until week 13 and it all worked fine. I had an easy pregnancy and it all worked this time. The Glucophage lowered my testosterone from 60 (whatever units) to 24 units and that's when it worked. I was on 1700 mg for about a year to do that. I took lots of extra folic acid to offset the reduced absorption caused by the Glucophage. I am breastfeeding so I am not on the Glucophage now, but plan to go back on it in a few months to try for lightning to strike again. In our childbirth class (in a small suburb of Dallas) there were two other couples that also had PCOS and got pregnant with Glucophage. Apparently, it does work and I wanted to give everyone hope that it can work for you, too. Good luck to all, Ruth
