Diets and excersise, or lack thereofFrom: Muriel (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 4 Nov 2001 07:40:50 -0800
Hello all once again, I am on 2000 mg a day of Glucophage, not XR, and have been taking something called "carbosol" after every meal which claims to reduce the number of carbs in the foods I eat. I notice that the majority of women on this board are either low-carbing, or are eating high-fiber diets, or are limiting their diets for weight loss. Well I have been on glucophage for 2 months now, and I gotta say I have not changed my diet at all. In fact, I may even be eating worse now than I have ever before, indulging my every craving. I do not excersise other than giving my dog a walk every other day. I am not trying AT ALL! So far, in 2 months, I have lost 20 pounds. I'm thrilled about this. As of today I weigh less than I have weighed in about 5 years (I'm 21 years old now). So I'm thinking, why bother dieting if I lose weight without trying? Why bother throwing in those 'sweating to the oldies' if I lose weight even if I don't do it? My last questions are about glucophage. I'm wondering why some women who do not lose weight with Glucophage continue to take it. What is the intended desire for taking it if you do not get these results? What does glucophage do for you if not regulate your insulin to better break down the sugars in your bloodstream. My thoughts are that it makes absolutely no sense for Glucophage to not help someone who is obese with IR lose weight. So many people here demand that weight loss is merely a side effect of Glucophage and that weight loss is not the reason you are given an Rx for it. So tell me why do we get an Rx for Glucophage then? Muriel
