Metabolife type drugs effect PCOS? (new here!)From: Amina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 2 Nov 2001 16:53:09 -0600 (CST)
Hi, First off, I am so relieved to have found this place online! Saw someone post the word fellow "Cysters".. nice to know there is a community...:-) Q: Are Metabolife, Xenedrin etc (effedra) weight loss supplements really dangerous for PCOS people? I know it has its risks: it says on the bottle that patients with history of diabetes should not use the product. I do not have diabetes, but I wonder if it'll mess with the insulin and pcos symptoms. ANyone try this for temporary wt. loss? How were your results? I saw Donna's post. Where you on Spiro? ANyone else? I have been on low doses of Spiro for 2 years now (I cant seem to tolerate anything above 100mg a day due to dryness inside and out). That and demulin bcp keep the pcos at bay (no more head hair loss, but not growth). I tried glucophage a year ago and just couldnt stay on it due to nausea so my doctor took me off of it. I am still overwt. and now I am really trying to workout with focus and just discovered the low-carb thing.... I just wanted a "boost" with the help of a thermogenic at low doses. Thanks Amina Please email me :)
