Do not skip. Foods with protein and fat should e i ncluded with each meal, increase fiber.Avoid concentrated sources of sugar, alcohol and caffeine. For the diet part: you are allowed: 7-8 ounces, yes, ounces of baked, broiled or grilled or roased meat/fish/poultry it has to be at least 90% lean. two grams of fat or less per ounce if u can. If not just be careful how much you are eating of it. You are allowed only 3 eggs per week but you can eat unlimited amounts of egg whites or egg substitute. Peanut butter has to be freshly ground or natural. One level tablespoon is one ounce or 12 almonds or 16 peanuts or 8 walnuts. 1-ounce of low fat cheese, (Cheese is 6 grams of fat or less per ounce it also counts as 1 starch serving. 1/2 cup beans cooked or 1/3 cup of tofu. ***That is your protein/fat category. **Next is Carb/Protein category: Dairy products only 2 servings per day. It has to be 1% or less for milk and only 8 ounces is one serving or cottage cheese is 1/2 cup that's one serving or yogurt and that has to be less than 25 grams of carb so they suggest Yoplait Lite the small 6 ounce yogurt. **Miscellaneous is 3 servings a day and that includes: Dairy Creamer 2 rtablespoons is considered one serving. It has to be 1 gram fat or less/serving. Non dairy creamer 2 tablespoons is one serving either powdered or lliquid. Sour Cream is 2 tablespoons of fat-free or 1 tablespoon of light. Cream Cheese, two tablespoons of fat free only. Dip is 2 tbsps fat free only and Desser Topping(ie) Cool Whip, Dream Whip is fat free only 2 tbsps. ***Fat category is 6 servings a day: Vegetable Oil 1 teaspoon of canola, extra virgil olive, peanut, safflower, sunflower, soybean, corn. Mayonnaise is 1 teaspoon of regular or 2 tsps of salad-dressing style or 3 tsps of light or low fat. Salad Dressing is 1 tbsp regular or 2 tbsps of light. Margarine or Butter is 1 tsp, limit to 2 tsps a day. ***Vegetable category is 5 servings a day: LIMIT: Olives to 2servings a day. ***Carb which is fruit category is 3 servings a day: LIMIT: Coconut and avocado. **Always eat fruit with protein and fat together never alone. *** Carb or Starchy Foods category is 4 servings a day: it has to be two grams of fat or less a serving. 15 gms of carbs= 1 serving. Bread: One slice of regular or 2 slices of diet or light is one serving. NO BAGELS AT ALL. Cereal has to be 3/4 cup ready to eat 0-5 grams sugar or cooked 0-5 grams sugar would be 1/2 cup. She said stick to Regular Cheerios or something with high fiber but low sugar. With Cheerios you can eat a full bowl and consider it only one serving I asked the dietician. Rice/Noodles/Pasta 1/2 cup cooked. Potato 1 medium baked, boiled, roasted or 1/2 cup mashed. Stick with new potatoes and roast or mash. Starchy Veggies: 1/2 cup of corn, peas, limas or 1 cup of acorn and butternut squash. Canned Souups are a carb and 1 cup would be bean, vegetable, broth-based, or 98% fat free cream soups. ***Remember most soups have 3 1/2 servings in them. Pasta Sause is 1/2 cup Crackers and Snacks Stick with Ritz low fat or some other low fat but limit the carbs to 15 grams or less look for those. and Frozen Desserts you can have ice cream or yogurt if it's 25 grams or less. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough by Edy's Grand Lite is great. You can have for snacks string cheese, crackers and peanut butter.. Drinks lots of water.
