Re: Another Prometrium questionFrom: Julie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Oct 2001 12:41:39 -0600 (CST)
Hi Latonya, I think that Prometrium works differently for each person. I have taken it every month for the last eight months. Some months I start the day of the last pill (also on a 10 day course)and some months I don't start until 10 days after I have stopped the pill. There have even been a couple of months that nothing happened. Not sure why. My doctor didn't seem concerned if I got pregnant while taking it. He said it would not hurt anything, but I would want to discontinue use once I found out. Unfortunately I don't think this medication alone makes you ovulate. From my understanding, this medicine is used to jump start you system. It basically causes your uterus to shed its lining causing you to start a cycle which will hopefully in turn cause you to ovulate. Hope this helps.
