Again, I'd appreciate if you can document that for me.

I am aware of a small amount of info that shows the POSSIBILITY of decreased absorption of B vitamins on higher level doses of Metformin. I am not aware of any link that shows that this is enough to increase the risk of neural tube defects. Metformin is still listed as a Class B drug and I would think that any indication that the drug caused problems for the developing fetus would be taken into consideration in that rating.

That being said, of COURSE all women of childbearing age and women who are TTC with PCOS should definitely be taking folic acid. I forget the recommended dose - 800mg?
