Hi Dr. Khanna, Sorry I missed your post earlier. I am glad to read that your wife is doing well on Metformin and Insulin. I had a brief discussion with my RE about remaining on Metformin when I get pregnant. He told me I would have to discuss it with the Perinatologist at preconception counseling. He said that they would probably let me use insulin but not metformin at first and add Metformin twards the third tri-mester. I am glad to read that your wife has been using both during her entire pregnancy with no problems.that is wonderful news. Please let me know what the outcome is when she delievers. I would like to keep taking Metformin if I get pregnant do to my insulin resistance and pregnancy losses in the past. The more information I can gather to take to the Perinatologist the better!I had a baby 6 years ago that was born with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome and that is why my Doctors don't want me to take medications while pregnant.they are afraid that I am at higher risk for having a baby with birth defects. I think they are being over cautious about Metformin. Thanks for sharing your news with the message board. Thanks,Dona
