Question for Dr. Sam re: LH/FSH ratio

Dr. Sam,

I am in the process of trying to get diagnosed with PCOS. My primary care doctor did run some blood tests - I have since been seeing an endocrinologist. My question deals with the LH/FSH ratio - I've read that the LH number is often 2 to 3 times higher than the FSH number in women with PCOS, even though they can both be within the 'normal' range. I've also read that the ratio should be at or close to 1:1. My LH number was 3.6miu/ml on cycle day 3, while my FSH number was 5.9 miu/ml on cycle day 3. Rather than the LH being too high, it seems as if my LH is quite low, giving an LH/FSH ratio of .61:1. Is this close enough to the 1:1 normal ratio to be considred 'normal'? Since my LH isn't too high, I'm a little confused. Any help you can give would be appreciated. I haven't had a chance to ask my endocrinologist this question yet, my appt. is in two weeks.
