Re: pcosFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netMon, 1 Oct 2001 21:42:06 EDT
Jody ( or anyone who is willing to help) I got your name and email from the pcos quilt (pcos pavilion). Basically, I am 23 and was just dx in Aug with pcos. i was put on BC pills at 16 to regulate my periods(and that's all i was ever told). after getting married we decided to stop taking the pill in may and try to get pregnant. well, to my surprise my period never came--but i waited to go to the dr. b/c i had heard that after being on the pill so long it may just take the body a while to get back in the swing of things. Well, it never happened so in Aug I went to a new dr. (we moved after getting married). He told me it was pcos before examine me!! he says I have a hair problem, which myself or anyone I know can see. He also says I am overweight. I have gained ten lb. since may when I stopped the pill. I am 5'3'' and 146 now, but even in high school I was 135 and I have always and still do wear size 7-8. anyhow, my internal ultrasound shows several cysts (classic pcos), but the only abnormal lab results are my testosterone, which is doubled. The 50 mg provera bring on my period. I desperately want to get pregnant!!!!!!!!!!!! my dr. said I could have a laproscopy done to pop the cysts or I could try clomid first. I am reluctant to try the surgery, b/c the cysts will grow back anyhow. ANY advise would be helpful thanks Kim
