Hi Emily, I do not have kidney or liver problems but my RE monitors me every couple of months with blood tests to make sure I don't develope any problems.Lactid acidosis is very rare and I have read it is more common in diabetics than with just being IR,but since you feel you might be prone to kidney problems I would think she would monitor you even closer. My RE checked my liver enzymes and kidneys BEFORE starting me on Glucophage to make sure it was safe to do so.You might want to ask her to do blood tests before starting Glucophage. Dona PS kidney stones and urinary tract infections are very common problems and don't nessarily mean you are going to have kidney failure which is very serious. I don't think she would have a problem with putting you on Glucophage.Lactid Acidosis is a far cry from UTI and kidney stones and is rare.
