Glucophage and kidney problems?

I have an appointment this Wednesday to see my endocrinologist and will most likely get my diagnosis of PCOS. She wants to put me on Glucophage; however, I've read that lactic acidosis is a serious side-effect, and this is a particularly high risk for individuals with kidney disease. I have had frequent UTIs in the past and kidney stones a couple of times. Is the Glucophage something I should be worried about?

I plan to ask my endocrinologist as well, but I was wondering if anyone here on Glucophage has kidney problems and if so how the treatment is going.
