How long does metformin take to work? I was diagnosed with PCOS a few months ago and stayed on it for a while but did not notice a difference. I am just 20 and am starting to gain weight. I was told to do more weight work because the PCOS is causing low bone density. I feel like it is making no difference and i cannot stop gaining weight - does metformin have a high success rate? thanks - sam

>I don't necessarily agree that 1500 mg is the minimum dosage required. I think everybody responds differently to the med. I myself was taking only 500 mg for awhile because I couldn't handle anything more. I finally went up to 850 mg but couldn't go up any higher than that.
