I was reassured by your responses that my dosage isn't necessarily too low. I called my doctor today to ask if 1. Do I really need metformin and 2. is the dose where he wants it to be. They had put me on a low dose to see how it works and will monitor me by blood tests to see if it needs to be increased as time goes by. At this point they feel that the 500mg is working so I think that is good.
