Thanks to everyone that responded to my question on taking only 500mg of metformin a day. I was reassured by your responses that my dosage isn't necessarily too low. I called my doctor today to ask if 1. Do I really need metformin and 2. is the dose where he wants it to be. They had put me on a low dose to see how it works and will monitor me by blood tests to see if it needs to be increased as time goes by. At this point they feel that the 500mg is working so I think that is good. The less drugs we pump into the body the better it must be - or at least that is my logic. : )
