Re: 26 yo with PCO wanting to get pregnant.From: Lori (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 25 Sep 2001 09:37:15 -0700
Hi Melissa- Thanks for sharing with the group. The first thing I would do is find a new doctor! I have a great doctor that takes the time to talk with me. My first appointment was over an hour long and he will often call me at home if I am struggling with something OBGYN related to check on me. You want a doctor that doesn't make you feel as though you are imposing or being rediculous when you ask questions. I just recently found out I have PCOS. I have weight in the middle, irregular periods (every couple of months), no facial hair and no cysts on the ovaries, but the blood tests came back as positive for PCOS. I have been taking metformin for only a few months and I am on a low dose (500 mg/day) so I am not sure that my body has had any impact from the medications yet. I have not had problems getting pregnant. The hard part is the timing because of the irregularity of my cycles - I don't ovulate on a dependable cycle. The first time I got pregnant it took several months but this last time I used Clomid and was pregnant within a month. Maybe that would help you since you are fairly regular - maybe all you need is a boost? -Lori
