I was diagnosed with PCOS at 16 (I am now 22) and I have been taking various forms of the pill (orthocept, orthotricyclen) along with Metformin 2x 500mg(Glucophage) which is normally a medication for adult diabetes. So far it has worked at stopping my weight gain and my periods are regular. I still have male pattern hair growth, which I am looking into spiralactone to help. but for now I just use leach or wax to keep it check. I lost about 30 pounds, I think this glucophage helps metabolize what is otherwise abnormal blood sugar levels due to a defect in insulin receptors. (Can you tell I've done some research on the matter?) Though I didn't really lose the weight until I went to Italy for a year and had a wonderful stress free life and ate unprocessed foods, lots of vegetables and walked a lot. I am still overweight and trying to lose it naturally through excercise since god only knows what diet pills and other radical forms of weightloss could do to our already disfuctional hormones and metabolism. Anyway, PCOS is still a very unknown condition and none of the treatments are 100% for every woman. I am just telling you my story. I hope it helps.
