Re: PCOS-MEDICATION digest 550From: Renee (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 26 Aug 2001 09:08:42 -0700
Are you eating a low-carb diet? Eating carbs is what causes my hot flashes. It wasn't early menopause or anything like that. When I start to get hot, I eat a piece of cheese, and I cool off. If you're hot, your blood glucose probably dropped. That could make you feel tired, as well. Eating a "regular" diet causes your insulin to spike, and drains your sugar, causing fatigue (and other problems). The glucose panel (I haven't heard of a glucose panel before--is it glucose and insulin? Fasting? Post-pradial?) should show high insulin, but you already knew that. However, it may be normal since you're on glucophage. I don't kno what a "health panel" is, maybe a chem 12 or chem 24? That's some general information (blood counts, elecrolyties, kidney function, etc.). You may want to see the endo again. Hormone panels could tell them a lot mroe about how your condition is being managed now. Good luck. Renee
