Re: PCOS - Where to get Metformin

Technically, Metformin is not approved to treat PCOS in the United States either (by the Food and Drug Administration). But, laws here provide that doctors can prescribe a legal medication for any reason they see fit even if it's not approved to treat that particular disease. Perhaps you can try a different doctor who will do this for you depending on what your prescriptions laws are. Print out articles/studies about Metformin and PCOS and bring them to your doctor. I found a lot of clueless doctors here regarding PCOS and new treatments for PCOS. (It tooks me seven years to get the right diagnosis and the BCP doesn't really treat the root causes and carries it's own set of risks.)

Otherwise, I would look at obtaining it over the internet without a prescription and trying to self-medicate.
