Hi everyone... Can't imagine how glad and thankful I am for this forum. Kind of hard to be alone with this syndrome, looking up info etc... I have only taken metformin for a few days and I know that alcohol does not fit very well with it (or= I read it in the instructions). I only take 500 mg a day (the beginner's amount, isn't it?. My stomach is critical, that's my side effect but it's not like it's aching all the time, it's only more sensitive than normal. Anyway, yesterday I drank 1/3 of a beer and my stomach just went upside down... so my questions are: Does anyone drink alcohol with this medicine? Or is the fact that you CAN'T drink anything, not even a glass of redwine?!!! Or is this reaction only a beginner's side effect? I'm not an alcoholic but I think it's kind of sad not being able to drink anything for the rest of my life... Have a nice day... Thóra
