TO DOCTOR SAM:Confusion

Dr. Sam.

i'm confused. why are doctors against BCP for people with polycystic ovaries? i take ortho-cept and 100mg of spiro/day. gluc makes me sick, so my doctor and told me to hold off on that med until i want to have children, or symptoms get worse. (i am not IR, my hormone levels are all "normal" by 4 different doctor's standards, though my testosterone is "high normal", which is why i take the bcps and the spiro; also, i am very thin but eat a low carb diet just to be on the safe side). i have very slight acne and facial hair but nothing intense. the only reason why i know i have PCOS is because my ovaries are littered with cysts. if i was not on the bcps, i would never get a period which is no good.... and i do not want to overmedicate (i'm only 22).

so, again, my question: am i doing the right thing?
